Velmar were pleased to supply and install composite windows for the development of a new student housing project in Mill Road, Cambridge.
Situated close to Anglian Ruskin University and the University of Cambridge, the Mill Road development comprises of 270 student bedrooms in a combination of en-suite studio, cluster units and shared townhouses. It has been attractively designed to blend into the existing townscape, with the ground floor common room and amenity area providing an active street frontage. The development is arranged around a central garden quad providing outdoor amenity and recreation space for the residents.
Velmar worked with architects TP Bennett and developers HG Construction for Mclaren Group, to supply and install 1000m2 of Classic Series windows for the project, along with Ayton & McKeown, who manufactured over 1000m2 of Curtain Wall screens and Tilt & Turn Aluminium windows and doors in the Communal Block A.
The windows were sized and designed to allow for tolerances in the future settlement of the three storey timber frame building. Consideration was also given to solar gain, with solar control glass utilised throughout, across a combination of side hung open in casement windows and fixed units.
The high performance, low maintenance aluminium exterior was finished in dark grey RAL 7012, with the warm wood interior in bright white finish.
With over 25 years experience, Velmar has a wealth of practical knowledge needed to ensure every installation is completed on time and as importantly is installed correctly and safely.
